Goal Setting

In the past goals have kinda been how Jack Sparrow described the Pirate Code – more like guidelines. You know what I mean. A suggestion; a guidepost; an option.

I understand now that for most of my life I’ve navigated goals and goal setting from a lack of realizing my own personality and how childhood trauma affected me. I just thought I was naturally ‘flighty’, ‘impulsive’ and ‘spontaneous’. Predictability was to avoided at all costs!

And while no one escapes childhood without a least minor wounds, my experiences kinda broke my stick-to-it-ability.

Over the years I’ve found healing, insight, took responsibility for my own crap and forgave others who just didn’t possess what I needed from them. I have compassion on other’s brokenness that contributed to mine and also grace for myself as I have failed others in not possessing what they needed. And I have accepted the forgiveness of others.

We all need to journey around the sun a few times to sort our crap out. Or at least recognize we have some!

And when we see it we need to do something about it – thus GOALS and GOAL SETTING!

As a writer, and as a person, I have goals!

One of my goal this year was to get Anna Wells and the Mystery of the Dusty Duchess published.

Wahoo! I did it!! (with a lot of help!)

So now I have a new goal:

Write book two of the Animal Justice Club series for NaNoWriMo 2023!

NaNoWriMo is the National Novel Writing Month. I wrote the original Duchess manuscript during NaNoWriMo many years ago.

I’m so excited for November! LOL.

But for now I have research to do and books to market and sell.

Summer is here and I have some goals for fun and relaxation too. I’ll need it because this fall is going to be full of creativity, imagination and writing.
